If one were to listen to the liberal media screeds about guns and
the people who carry them, one could easily be led to believe that
concealed carry permit holders are a bunch of dangerous and heavily
armed hotheads ready to resort to violence against anyone who
crosses their path, for little or no reason at all.
Of course, common knowledge and real life experience tells us
otherwise, but now there is also statistical evidence proving not
only that concealed carriers aren’t exceptionally violent, but that
they are actually one of the most law-abiding segments of the entire
nation’s population.
According to The Daily Wire, a study was recently conducted by noted
statistician John Lott of the Crime Prevention Research Center, who
discovered that it is “very rare for permit holders to violate the
law.”
The study compared the crime rates of the general population with
those of police officers and concealed carry permit holders.
It found that the general population
commits crime at a rate of about 3,813 crimes per 100,000 people
((3.813%))
In comparison, the police officer
crime rate was about 103 crimes per 100,000 officers. That is
roughly 2.7 percent of the rate of the general population.

But the crime rate for carry permit holders
was even lower than that, about one-sixth the rate of law
enforcement, or about 17 crimes per 100,000 permit holders.

And those numbers include ALL general felonies and ALL
misdemeanors, not only the vaunted “gun violence” and gun crime that
the media gets so heated about.
Based on Lott’s research of data from both
Florida and Texas, he
discovered that police officers commit firearms violations at a rate
of 16.5 per 100,000 officers,
while
permit holders commit gun crimes at an astonishingly low
rate of 2.4 per 100,000.
Bear in mind that these numbers come following a significant surge
in the number of permitted carriers across the country over the past
15 plus years, a stretch that has simultaneously seen a steady
decline in both general crime and violent crime rates, specifically
murder (though those rates have recently spiked in the strict gun
control utopias controlled by Democrats).
While the media certainly does not want to hear this news, as it
completely undermines their false accusations and blanket smears
against gun owners and gun carriers, they nevertheless must accept
the fact that concealed carrier permit holders are some of the most
law-abiding individuals in the country.

Perhaps that has something to do with permit holders having to prove
they have clean records, undergo background checks, submit their
fingerprints and jump through a variety of hoops (depending on the
state) in order to obtain a permit that can be quickly snatched away
for the slightest offense.
It would be nice if the media would actually report this, but we
will not hold our breath.
In the meantime, we will continue to walk among the general
population, armed and prepared to defend ourselves — and them —
should the need arise. Otherwise, our firearms will remain holstered
and hidden, with the public at large and the liberal media none the
wiser.
